It's an ACLS procedure that you are more likely to see in a medical TV drama than in real life. The procedure (unrecommended procedure mind you) is blow to the patient's sternum in the initial moments of a witnessed cardiac arrest.

In a pinch when you have V fib or pulseless v tach on a monitor and no defibrillator, it can work (it only takes a second). I've used it with torsades before the magnesium arrived with success twice. It still remains part of cardiac resuscitation guidelines in some parts of the world.
